You probably know that virtually everyone wants a beautiful, white smile. But did you know that there are a few things that can prevent you from having your ideal smile, such as yellow teeth or white spots on your teeth? These white spots can be noticeable and unattractive, and even a sign of other issues.

White spots are often the result of a condition called enamel hypoplasia. This condition could be the result of poor oral hygiene, plaque buildup, chronic dry mouth, or acid reflux disease. Enamel hypoplasia can also lead to sensitive teeth or tooth discoloration.

White spots can also be a sign of demineralization. If you don’t have enough calcium and other minerals in your diet, your enamel can weaken, resulting in these spots. White spots could also be caused if your teeth are exposed to too much fluoride, especially while you’re young.

Fortunately, there may be a few things you can do to treat these white spots. For example, we could recommend veneers if you’re simply interested in covering spots, or any other imperfection you could have. We could also recommend treatments designed to strengthen your enamel, or help you adjust your diet to make sure your enamel is safe and getting the minerals it needs.
